A Tournament with History

The basketball tradition in Menorca is consolidated with the 21st edition of the Torneig de Bàsquet Base Ciutat d'Alaior. 
A sporting event that combines passion, tradition and youth in the heart of Menorca.

This tournament, which is held during the Easter school holidays, has as its main objective to promote grassroots sport among the cadet and infant categories, a fact that has been successfully achieved in previous editions. The city of Alaior is not just a place of competition, but it becomes a basketball festival, gathering more than 1.400 people between players, coaches and referees.

In last year's edition, 93 teams took part with a total of 1,400 participants. From the first edition until now, 627 teams have participated, 425 of them coming from outside the island, bringing together a total of more than 10,000 players.

The previous editions were a testimony to the company, sporting intensity and exemplary coexistence between all the participating teams. Moreover, beyond the rivalry, this tournament has consolidated itself as a meeting that promotes local support, with more than a hundred local businesses supporting this basketball festival. With five of them distributed around Menorca and a wide representation of regions, the next edition promises to be, once again, a feast for youth basketball and a symbol of unity and passion for sport.

Organised with great enthusiasm by C.B. Jovent D'Alaior, this tournament has the mission of promoting sport among the youngest, seeking to encourage grassroots sport and healthy coexistence between the different categories.

Where and when?

The tournament will take place in Alaior, a town in Menorca, and will bring together teams from all over the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The key dates for the meetings will be from 16 to 19 April 2025, coinciding with the Easter school holidays.

Menorca has several facilities prepared for this event::

• Multi-purpose sports centre Salle Alaior school
• Sports centre of Es Mercadal
• Poliesportiu de Fornells

These venues ensure the best experience for players and spectators.

Services for Participants

The organisation has made an effort to offer a complete package for the athletes:

• Transfers from Barcelona to Menorca and vice versa.
• Accommodation in hotels and aparthotels with full board.
• Transport by coach for different journeys.
• Integral management of the competition: refereeing, trophies and others.

Initial forecast of participants

This tournament is aimed at the infantile, pre-infantile and cadet categories, in male and female modalities.
Each category will be organised in two groups of 8 teams, with the option of registering in group A (2nd year medium-high level) or B (1st year basic level).

Competition

The competition will take place according to the calendar, on the basis of the league in each group of all against all, with matches after the first phase according to classification to define the final classification.
The playoffs will be of one game per team, except for the first two teams of each group.
Each team is expected to play 5 games, except for the finalists, who will play 6.
All the games will be played on a covered court with parquet flooring.
The A level teams will play all the games on the central court of the sports centres, while the B level teams will play them on the annexed and transversal courts.

Itinerary of the Journey

Tuesday, 15 April 2025

Departure (at night) by boat from the port of Barcelona (Barcelona-Menorca). On arrival, first thing in the morning, transfer by bus to the hotel.

16, 17, 18 and 19 April 2025

The tournament will take place at the aforementioned facilities.
Players and coaches will be taken to the Pavilion by bus (approximately 20 minutes).

Saturday, 19 April 2025

Departure Menorca-Barcelona at night, Mallorca late at night, according to the usual timetable.

Prices and registration

Note: The organisers have reserved a number of places on the coach, in Seats or Cabins. These places will be distributed in order of confirmation of participants' registrations (limited places). Remember that the cabins are for 4 people, which will be distributed according to the internal order of the tournament. It is possible to share with another group if there are not multiple of 4 people.

Operating calendar

• Before 15 January 2025: 

  • Confirmation of your participation at 657 966 869 (Miquel Sintes) or by email to torneigbase@cbjovent.com.

• Before 1 February 2025:

  • Preview of participants and companions, official photo of the team taking part in the tournament and fill in the registration form at the following link: Registration
  • Make a deposit of 25% of the budget in order to guarantee the reservations, both for the hotel and the car, by sending proof of payment by email to torneigbase@cbjovent.com.

• Before 1 March 2025:

  • Confirmation of players, coaches and accompanying persons.
    Payment of the remaining 75% of the budget.
