A Tournament with History

Menorca's basketball tradition continues to grow with the 23rd edition of the Ciutat d'Alaior Youth Basketball Tournament. 
A sporting event that combines passion, tradition and youth in the heart of Menorca.

This tournament, held during the Easter school holidays, has the main objective of promoting grassroots basketball among the Cadet and Infantil categories, a goal that has been successfully achieved in previous editions. The town of Alaior is not simply a place for competition, but becomes a true basketball celebration, bringing together more than 2,000 people including players, coaches and referees.

Last year's edition welcomed 125 teams and more than 2,000 participants. Since the first edition, a total of 675 teams have taken part, 455 of them coming from outside the island, bringing together more than 12,000 players in total.

Previous editions have been characterised by friendship, sporting intensity and exemplary coexistence among all participating teams. Beyond the competition itself, the tournament has become an event that encourages strong local support, with more than one hundred local businesses supporting this celebration of basketball. With five venues located across Menorca and a broad representation of regions, the next edition once again promises to become a landmark event in youth basketball and a symbol of unity and passion for sport.

Organised with great enthusiasm by C.B. Jovent D’Alaior, the tournament's mission is to promote sport among young people, encouraging grassroots basketball and healthy interaction between the different categories.

Where and When?

The tournament takes place in Alaior, a town on the island of Menorca, and will bring together teams from across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. The key tournament dates will be from 24 to 27 March 2027, coinciding with the Easter school holidays.

Sports Facilities

Menorca has several facilities prepared to host this event:

• Municipal Sports Hall (2 indoor courts)
• I.E.S. JM Guàrdia Sports Hall
• Dr. Comas School Multipurpose Hall
• La Salle Alaior School Multipurpose Hall
• Different sports centres across Menorca

These facilities ensure the best possible experience for both players and spectators.

Services for Participants

The organisation has worked hard to offer a complete package for participants:

• Ferry transfers from Barcelona to Menorca and back.
• Accommodation in hotels and aparthotels with full board.
• Coach transport for the different transfers.
• Complete competition management: refereeing, trophies and other services.

Initial Participant Forecast

This tournament is aimed at the Infantil, Preinfantil and Cadet categories, for both boys and girls.
Each category will be organised into two groups of 8 teams, with the option of registering in Group A (2nd year, medium-high level) or Group B (1st year, basic level).

Competition

The competition will take place according to the established schedule, beginning with a round-robin league within each group, followed by crossover games after the first phase based on the standings in order to determine the final classification.
The crossover games will consist of one game per team, except for the top two teams in each group.
Each team is expected to play 5 games, except for the finalists, who will play 6.
All games will be played indoors on parquet flooring.
Level A teams will play all their games on the main courts of the sports centres, while Level B teams will play on the adjoining and cross courts.

The competition will be played in accordance with FEB regulations.

Travel Itinerary

Tuesday, 23 March 2027

Departure at night by ferry from the Port of Barcelona (Barcelona-Menorca). Upon arrival early in the morning, transfer by coach to the hotel.

Wednesday, 24 March 2027

Departure at 07:00 by ferry from the Port of Alcudia (Mallorca-Menorca). 

24, 25, 26 and 27 March 2027

The tournament will take place at the facilities mentioned above.
Players and coaches will be transported to the sports halls by coach (approximately 20 minutes).

Saturday, 27 March 2027

Departure from Menorca to Barcelona at night, and to Mallorca in the late afternoon/evening, according to the usual schedules.
 

Prices and Registration

Note: The organisation has reserved a limited number of places on the ferry, with either Seat or Cabin accommodation. These places will be allocated according to the order in which participant registrations are confirmed (limited availability). Please remember that cabins accommodate 4 people and will be allocated according to the tournament's internal organisation. Participants may have to share a cabin with another group if their group size is not a multiple of 4 people.

Schedule and Deadlines

• Before 15 January 2027: 

  • Confirm your participation by calling 657 966 869 (Miquel Sintes) or by email at torneigbase@cbjovent.com.

• Before 1 February 2027:

  • Provide the estimated number of participants and accompanying guests, the official photograph of the team participating in the tournament, and complete the registration using the following link:

  • Pay 25% of the estimated budget in order to guarantee the hotel and ferry reservations, and send proof of payment by email to torneigbase@cbjovent.com.

• Before 1 March 2027:

  • Confirmation of players, coaches and accompanying guests.
  • Payment of the remaining 75% of the estimated budget.

The 23rd edition of the Ciutat d'Alaior Youth Basketball Tournament is much more than a tournament; it is a celebration of youth sport, a showcase of the region's rich basketball tradition and an opportunity for young talents to demonstrate their skills. Let the games begin!
